The Turn of the Century Houses of Taal, Batangas
Taal, Batangas could boast of a mix of well preserved and decaying 19th century Spanish Colonial House. The most prominent of them are the Agoncillo and Apacible House. The Agoncillo House was the house of Marcela Agoncillo, the maker of the Philippine Flag and the Apacible House was one house of Leon Apacible, a revolutionary in the 1890s. Both houses have been donated to the National Historical Institute by the heirs of Agoncillo and Apacible. The Apacible House has an interesting hybrid of Spanish and Art Deco because the heirs of Don Apacible remodeled their house in the 1940’s.
These are some of them. Some are left to decay, some are in good condition and some are new constructions using the turn of the century Architecture.
